Why eSports shouldn’t be included in Olympics
E-Sports, also called electronic sports is a form of video game competition. The realm of competitive, organized video gaming is referred to as e-sports. In these popular at-home games, players from various leagues or teams compete against each other.
Millions of fans watch and follow these gamers from all around the world, whether they attend live events or watch them on TV or online.
eSports are violent:
According to the president of the International Olympic Committee, esports are too violent. So-called killer games, the Games will not accept any entries that encourage violence or prejudice. He directly denied it by saying that if you have sports in which you are killing somebody so it cannot add to the Olympic Games.
Even though this sector is growing year after year, it appears that conventional sports are still not ready to welcome gaming into their elite Olympic club. But there was a clear prediction about esports revenue that it will add 1B in global revenue.
E-sports will be featured as a demonstration event for the first time at the Asian Games, which is a conventional sporting competition. With a global audience of roughly 320 million individuals, e-sports is no longer considered fringe.
And, of course, the argument over what defines a sport continues to rage. It is, nevertheless, treated seriously. Gender equality is essential to the Olympic Movement and one of the requirements for establishing a new sport.
Surprisingly, this is one area where e-sports has been harshly chastised. In both the domestic and professional realms, video game culture is deliberately antagonistic to women.
eSports are a skill, not a sports:
E-Sports are a skill basically, not a sport where you cannot engage your physical body. You cannot involve yourself physically. It was the major point raised by many Olympic players. According to them, this is also the valid reason that esports should not add to Olympics.
Video games involve skill and coordination, they do not include enough physical components to be considered a sport. Playing video games for long periods causes headaches, grogginess, and discomfort in the body. eSports are competitive in the same sense that chess is.
Don’t involve physical exertion and don’t give the same health advantages as traditional sports.
Even though the esports sector is growing year after year, it appears that conventional sports are still not ready to welcome gaming into their elite Olympic club. Its fans already have their tournaments and championships dedicated to this type of entertainment.
Most gamers don’t care if eSports becomes an Olympic event, according to polls, since they don’t automatically link gaming with it. It is a distinct form of entertainment. More importantly, It has already established itself as a globally recognized entertainment business.
