Thanks to a new addition to the “PlayStation family,” PlayStation Studios looks to be ramping up its Windows PC porting efforts.

Sony has purchased Nixxes Software, a technical developer headquartered in the Netherlands whose credentials include PC adaptations and optimizations for games like Marvel’s Avengers and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, according to Sony’s head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst.  Nixxes Software, a Dutch firm, has been acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The acquisition’s terms have not been made public. The developer will work for Sony’s PlayStation Studios Technology, Creative, and Services Group, which focuses on technical and development skills to assist Sony’s game studios.

In a news release, Hulst remarked, “I greatly admire Nixxes and am delighted for this extremely accomplished team to join part of the world-class development community at SIE.

They are driven by a desire to improve games and provide the greatest possible experience for gamers. Nixxes will be a valuable tool to all of the PlayStation Studios teams, allowing them to focus on their most essential goal: creating distinctive PlayStation content of the highest possible quality.”

In recent years, Sony Interactive Entertainment has shifted its focus to the PC, bringing formerly PlayStation-only titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone to the platform. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Ghost of Tsushima PC versions are also said to be in the works, though Sony has yet to confirm them.

Nixxes’ founder and senior director of development, Jurjen Katsman, added: “We can’t wait to get started, and we’re ecstatic to be able to contribute our technical and development experience to such a well-known IP as PlayStation Studios.

We’re excited to collaborate with some of the industry’s most creative teams to bring PlayStation fans the highest-quality gaming experiences possible.”
