Vela Games will be able to expedite the development of Project-V, its codenamed first release, thanks to the fresh amount of funding. Vela Games, founded in 2018 by Travis George, Brian Kaiser, and Lisa Newon George, secured $6.9 million in fundraising rounds to build a team of over 25 outstanding developers and test out their idea.

When you add in the $6.9 million in startup investment, Vela has generated more than $24 million in support for its mission. Novator is leading the current round of investment, and its partner Birgir Már Ragnarsson will join Vela’s board of directors.

Vela plans to utilize the funds to expand its staff when the pre-alpha Project-V enters the second round of testing later this year. Vela co-founder Travis George remarked, “We’re delighted that our investment partners share our enthusiasm and excitement for what we’re developing with Project-V.

We have big ambitions for the game and what it will become, and we’re excited to expand the Vela team and player community in the coming months.”

With this additional funding, the team will be able to expand even further, having recently acquired industry veterans from Blizzard, Epic, Riot Games, and Moon Studios to its pool of talent.

The studio will offer a new set of roles across disciplines right once, providing possibilities for people who want to be a part of bringing Project-V to reality. “Our sights are set high to deliver MOCO to the globe and elevate co-operative games to the next level,” Vela Games co-founder Travis George said of the Series A.

The great feedback we’ve received from playtesters has further increased our resolve to expand on our unique gameplay concept, in which effective teamwork and reacting to the unexpected are genuinely rewarded.”
