Fast Travel Games, the Swedish VR developer and publisher behind titles including Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife (2021) and Apex Construct (2018), has received a $4 million investment.

Former Rovio general manager Oskar Burman co-founded the Stockholm-based firm in 2016, which specializes in virtual reality games like Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife and The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets. In the previous five years, Fast Travel Games has expanded to over 30 workers.

Apex Construct, The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife, and Budget Cuts 2: Mission Insolvency, which was co-developed with fellow Stockholm-based company Neat Corporation, are the studio’s four VR products to date.

We’ve witnessed incredible growth in the VR industry recently, with many gamers understanding just how much the field has developed in terms of hardware, cost, and content access, said Oskar Burman, CEO, and co-founder of Fast Travel Games.

With four games on the market and numerous more in production, we more than doubled our income to 2.4 million dollars last year, and we’re on course to do it again this year. We’re in a better position than ever to capitalize on this new gaming frontier thanks to this fresh investment.

Brightly Ventures, a Nordic business, provided the majority of the new funding, with other money coming from previous investors Industrifonden, Creates, and Inbox Capital.

While no particular plans for the funds have been revealed, the business claims that they would “place Fast Travel Games in a good position to enhance its pace moving ahead.

Fast Travel CEO Burman stated in a statement that the company’s sales quadrupled in 2020 to $2.4 million and that the studio is “well on course to double that again this year.
