Vungle, a mobile ad and app monetization business, has acquired JetFuel, a San Francisco-based influencer marketing platform. JetFuel offers app developers and marketers tools to help them expand campaigns across its 15,000 certified influencers.

Jeremy Bondy, CEO of Vungle, said, “JetFuel brings strong technical expertise and commercial success in social media and influencer marketing. It is creating a unique and valuable extension to our performance marketing platform that will empower not only our current customers but the next generation of digital entrepreneurs.

We’ve been blown away by the company’s cutting-edge, market-leading technology and forward-thinking vision, which makes the pairing of Vungle and JetFuel seem so natural.”

The purchase price was not disclosed by Vungle. According to research by Influencer Marketing Hub, the worldwide influencer industry is anticipated to expand quickly, reaching $13.8 billion in 2021, up from $1.7 billion in 2016.

JetFuel CEO Tim Lenardo added: “During our discussions, it became obvious that partnering with an ad tech pioneer like Vungle would have significant advantages.

There are many parallels between our businesses. Many of the issues we’re addressing in influencer marketing are the same issues they’ve been addressing in mobile for the previous decade.”

Last year, Vungle bought Algolift, a user acquisition technology business, and GameRefinery, a mobile analytics company, as well as ad generation platform TreSensa earlier this year.
